Ford is going to announce something big on the 4th of January as the company has asked us to block this day. There is going to be a press conference to held in Delhi where Ford India may unveil the new EcoSport SUV.
The company may use this occasion to also announce its future plans on the new models and technology which will play a very important role to increase its market share in India.
Ford has already unveiled the Fiesta Automatic, a launch may also take place on the same day.
Ford India has already started work on the new plant in Gujarat. The plant will also house a new engine facility and we feel Ford may build its new Ecoboost engines here.
The EcoSport will be the next big model from Ford’s stable which will could help the company increase its numbers. The EcoSport, a compact SUV will be powered by a 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.5 diesel engine. The SUV will be under 4 metres which will help Ford India to price it aggressively. We expect the price to be in the range of Rs. 6-8 lakhs.
Renault will also launch the Duster SUV in the same segment in mid 2012 with same K9 diesel engine which powers the Fluence.
