Ford India launched another techno packed model the new Fiesta with Powershift Transmission in the Indian market. The car is one amongst the most affordable sedan with automatic option if we leave aside the Maruti Suzuki SX4 sedan.
We have the feeling that Ford may also plant the Powershift Transmission in the EcoSport SUV which the American car maker plans to launch in India either late 2012 or early 2013. This could just be a cherry on the cake if Ford does take this bold step especially for the Indian market. Ford may not be able to be the first in the Indian market to launch a Mini SUV in India considering the fact Renault plans to launch the Duster SUv in a couple of months. However Ford could be the first if they do launch the EcoSport with an automatic Powershift Transmission.
The Powershift Transmission has a 6 speed Dual Clutch which helps provide optimal gear ratio, smoother shifts and better fuel economy.
Features of the Powershift Transmission
The Dual clutch has zero maintenance which one can be free for the next 10 years or 240,000 kms.
Hill/Grade assist feature helps intelligent braking system and helps tackle inclines and declines easily.
Dual clutch also comes with the Creep function which is a boon while driving in crawling traffic. One can fully drive the by simple engaging/de-engaging the brake lever depending on the traffic. No need to push the accelerator pedal.
