BMW India may have been a little shy in 2012 with no new models in the first six months. On the other hand it’s rival Audi and Mercedes-Benz has launched a couple of new products to keep the momentum going. To take on the new Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW will launch its all new 3 Series F30. The sedan is based on a all new platform and will be bigger both inside and outside then the current 3 Series.
The Sixth generation BMW 3 Series debuted on October 14, 2011 in Munich. Its exterior is influenced by the F01 7 Series and especially the F10 5 Series. BMW India has been testing the all new 3 Series in the Indian market and the car was caught testing in Chennai a couple of months back.
The new 3 Series which borrows a lot of design cues from the 5 Series and looks even more sportier now. The larger kidney shaped grille, a bigger nose , LED accent lights positioned like eyebrows above the striking twin headlights with corona rings give the car an impressive design at the front. Powerfully taut surfaces with sweeping lines dominate the side view of the BMW 3 Series Sedan.
The new BMW 3 series is available in three trims internationally: Sport Line, Luxury Line and Modern Line. Currently launched in 4 engine options: 328i, 335i, 320d and 320d efficient dynamics. In India we could initially get the 320d and 318i (petrol engine) with launch expecting by mid 2012.
There has been affirmation that BMW will not offer the stripped down Corporate edition new 3 Series on the new model. With the facelifted Audi A4 starting at 27 lakhs odd, will BMW go for premium pricing or will the company go aggressive? We will have to wait till 19th July for the pricing.
