Volvo is gong small and is all set to unveil its new small car the V40 at the upcoming Geneva motor show. Why is it important to us? The Vovlo V40 is India bound. The Volvo V40 is an all new 5 door hatchback which shares a lot of design cues with the Volvo S60.
The V40 will debut with a 2.0-litre, direct-injection four cylinderinstead of the company’s currently five cylinders engine. Rumor has it that the V40 will even spawn an ‘XC40’ crossover version to take on the likes of the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.
The sleek five-door hatch will be replacing the company’s two existing models, the S40 sedan and V50 wagon and the C30 hatchback in the international market.
In India, the V40 is expected to be priced between Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 22 lakh.
Volvo is targeting a 15% share of the Indian luxury car market and sales of 20,000 units by 2020. To increase sales further the company has doubled its marketing budget and is planning to expand its network form next year.
Volvo recently launched the lower priced variants of the S60, S80 and XC60. These variants are equipped with the de-tuned D5 engine is now called the D3 engine which boasts a impressive power of 163 bhp and 400 Nm of Torque.
