Volkswagen has no major models planned for the next couple of years for the Indian market. To keep the customers happy and increase the number of footfalls, VW is planning to launch variants of the Polo and Vento in the Indian market.
The company is firstly planning to launch the Polo 1.6 GTD hot diesel hatch which is most likely to compete with the likes of Fiat Punto 90 HP.
According to our friends at IAB, VW may launch the Polo SR special edition which was displayed at the Autocar Performance show. This is the second time the company is planning to launch a limited edition of the Polo. VW had launched the Polo IPL edition with the extra features added at the dealership.
VW will most likely follow a similar practice in this situation also and may be launched on base or middle variant.
The Polo SR comes with the following features –
- Front and Rear body skirts
- Side skirts
- Chrome finish on the trunk
- Chrome tipped exhaust
- Roof spoiler
- SR badge
VW also had launched slightly updated Polo and Vento variants recently while lowering the price tags of the top variants. There is no official word on these variants and we can expect the launch of the Polo SR to happen only in 2013.
