Suzuki will launch the refreshed Splash in the Japanese market by June. The updated Ritz has also been caught testing on the Indian roads for quite sometime. The Ritz just crossed a new milestone in the Indian market crossing the 2 lakh sales mark in premium hatchback segment within 36 months of its launch. The Ritz sold 64,000 units during FY 2011-12. The Ritz is available with both 1.2 litre K-series petrol engine and DDiS 1.3 litre diesel engine options the diesel which now commands the majority.
The refreshed Splash (Ritz in the Indian market) will get a new grille with the plate dividing the grille in two parts, new design front and rear bumpers. The fog lamps are neatly placed in the scoops provided in the front bumper and the rear bumper gets air dam look alike slots which give the car a sporty look.
Interior design largely remains same expect new colour scheme. We hope India does not get beige interiors which has been a trend in the market. The Indian variant won’t get an automatic variant unlike the Japanese variant but this option would help to increase the sales especially of the petrol variant which has seen sales dwindling.
Prices could be slightly revised but the competition won’t allow Maruti to command a premium.
