Honda India plans to launch the Brio Automatic in India. The company which as seen sales drop to less than 5 thousand units in the month of August wants to focus more on the compact car segment which forms more than 50% of the Indian car market.
The Brio Automatic will be launched in November just before the Diwali festive season. The Brio will get a five speed autobox which also does the duty on the City sedan. However the company may not offer paddle shift in the car, if launched it could be a first in its segment and would really making a big selling point.
The Brio has helped the company to keep into business which sells around 2500 units on an average per month. Since launch the car has sold about 20,000 units.
The Brio comes with a 1.2 SOHCi-VTEC engine which produces max power of 88 Ps (65 Kw) @ 6000 rpm and Max Torque of 109 Nm @ 4600 rpm.
Honda is also working on the Brio diesel and we can expect the launch to happen around early 2013 as the company is testing the car all around India. The car will come with a 1.2 litre diesel engine and India could be the first market to receive the diesel engine.
