Honda will launch the Amaze sedan in India on the 11th of this month and has already commenced bookings. The car will be available in two engine options and an automatic variant also.
The Amaze sedan will be a milestone in company’s history in India as it will be first car from the Japanese car maker to be offered with a diesel engine. The Amaze will challenge the Maruti Swift Dzire head on and will redefine the sub four metre segment.
The Amaze will come with a 1.2 (1198cc) 4 cylinder, 16 valves i-VTEC petrol engine mated to a five speed gear box and produce max power of 88PS @ 6,000 RPM and max torque of 109 Nm @ 4,500 RPM. The 1.2 petrol will have a ARAI-certified fuel efficiency efficiency rating of 18 kmpl which is decent for a sedan of its class.
The petrol mill will also be offered with an optional five speed automatic gear box which is also available on the Brio hatch. (Read more about the Brio Automatic). The Amaze Automatic will deliver a fuel efficiency of 15 kmpl.
The most important is the diesel engine which is a smaller version of the 1.6 i-DTEC. The 1,498cc Earth Dreams 16-valve i-DTEC engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that produces 100PS @ 3,600 RPM and 200Nm @ 1750 RPM, with an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of 25.8 kmpl.

The Amaze will not be offered with Automatic option on the diesel engine variant. We expect the pricing to undercut the Maruti Suzuki Swift.
