Force Motors will launch the new Gurkha MUV on the 16th of this month. This will be the second model from the passenger car division after the launch of the Force One.
Gurkha MUV is based on the old G-Wagen platform is one of the most rugged 4×4 utility vehicle quite known for its off-roading and go any where capabilities. The MUV will continue to be sold as a three door version and will have seating capacity of 5 or 7 seating option.
Force Motors have tested the MUV quite extensively in the Indian market with improved engine, transmission and suspension system. The Gurkha will be powered by the same 2.6 Liter turbo diesel-intercooled 4 cylinder engine which is now BS4 complaint. Power figures to be in range of 80-85 Bhp and torque of about 215 Nm. NVH levels have been improved and the cabin noise is low.
Highlights of the 2013 Gurkha MUV
- Revised front end with projetor headlamps and updated tail lamps
- Roof rails
- Plastic front & rear bumpers (should have continued with the metal ones)
- Gear ratios have been revised
- Standard 4×4 with manual shifter (hope it is shift on the fly)
- New seats with arm rests (can expect them to be similar to Scorpio)
- New instumentation console
The Force Gurkha will compete with the Mahindra Thar which sells around 600 units per month. Force will have to play the pricing card if it wants more volumes from the old horse. The Gurkha score over the Thar only for the fact it is offered with a hard roof top.
The Gurkha will be retailed through the new developed passenger dealerships.
