New Fluidic Hyundai Elantra Brochure Leaked

It’s no secret that Hyundai is gearing up for the launch of the fifth-gen Elantra. You’ve seen the spy-shots, you’ve seen the unveiling at the Auto-Expo and you also know about the engine options. But it doesn’t end there. Thanks to our friends from Motorbeam, we now have the brochure scans of the upcoming fluidic sedan, revealing everything that Hyundai India has planned for us.

It is a well known fact that all recent Hyundai’s have been packed with features and the Elantra is no exception. The brochure reveals that the fluidic Elantra comes equipped with dual-zone air-conditioning mated to a cluster ionizer, rear-seat audio controls, rear AC-vents, powered driver-seat with electric lumbar support, ventilated front seats, electric folding and heated ORVM’s, electro-chromic mirror with a rear view camera, silica tyres with 16-inch alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, solar glass, steering mounted audio controls with Bluetooth connectivity, automatic headlights, cooled glove box, electronic stability program (ESP), vehicle stability management (VSM), ABS, six airbags, cruise control, hill hold control, etc.

For a car in this segment, what matters more than features is the space it offers. The new Elantra measures just 4530 mm in length, which makes it the smallest in its class. It is actually even smaller than the Fiat Linea, which gives us doubts about its rear-seat comfort. Still, specification sheets don’t always tell the real story and we’ll form opinions only when we drive the car.

Under the hood, the fifth-gen Elantra will be powered by the same 1.6 litre CRDi engine that does duty on the on the Verna. The 126bhp motor should do just fine, considering how most of its rivals have even smaller engines in their line-up.

There will also be a 1.8 petrol engine on offer, that’ll produce 146 BHP of peak-power @6500 RPM and 178 NM of peak-torque @4700RPM. Both the engines will be mated to a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission, thus making it the only car in its segment with an automatic transmission on both petrol and diesel variants.

Hyundai has already unveiled the new Elantra at the Auto Expo and so we wouldn’t be surprised if the Korean car-maker drops in a press release any moment. Expect the Fluidic Elantra to be priced anything between Rs. 13-16 lakhs.
