Chevrolet will launch the Sail U-VA in the Indian market on the 25th of October. With the launch of the new Sail U-VA, Chevrolet will have a strong contender against the segment leader Maruti Suzuki Swift.
Chevrolet officials have retained the U-VA nameplate on the Sail U-VA hatch and will completely replace the Aveo U-VA. While the Sail sedan will replace the Aveo sedan which will be launched after a couple of months. The two cars will be launched with both petrol and diesel engine options and will be priced aggressively.
The Sail was developed by SAIC-GM in China and is also in sale in Brazil. The Sail has been extensively modified to meet the India conditions.
The Sail U-VA will get a 1.2 petrol engine, which also shares its block with the Beat but will get a higher tune in the range of 86 Ps. The 1.3 diesel engine will generate 77 Ps power. Both the petrol & diesel engines will be mated to a 5 speed gear box.
The Chevrolet Sail will have 4 variants they are PS, LS, LT and LT (O). The top end variant will have alloy wheels, ABS and airbags. One of the main USPs of the car is spacious interiors.
Chevrolet is also launching the new Spark hatch on the 15th of October. The Sail sedan and Enjoy MPV will follow the Sail U-VA in the Indian market.
