TVS Motor re-launched the much-awaited twin-spark plug ‘Flame’ motorcycle for the executive segment. The company said it has re-launched the bike, TVS Flame DS 125, priced at Rs. 49,200 ex-showroom, after obtaining all necessary permissions and clearances in accordance with law.
The company was involved in a legal tangle with Bajaj in producing Flame bikes with twin-spark plug. While it was not restrained by Supreme Court from manufacturing such products, marketing of the same was subject to the final decision by SC.
Finally, in September, the apex allowed TVS to manufacture and sell its 125cc Flame twin-spark plug fitted bike. The apex court also appointed a receiver to keep an account of the manufacture and sales of the twin-spark plug Flame by TVS. It had directed the Madras HC to dispose of the suit before November-end. That time, TVS said the order had vindicated its stand and gave it the freedom to manufacture the Flame bike with twin-spark technology. It also said it would decide when to start marketing the model.
The twin spark plug bike developed with AVL Austria, is propelled by three valve CC-VTi technology. It is designed to give superior performance and high fuel efficiency. TVS Flame DS 125 is the only motorcycle in the country to have a unique combination of three valves and two spark plugs, it claimed.
