Toyota will unveil the all new Camry at the 2012 Auto Expo. The Expo is going to see a new launch from almost every car maker in India. Hyundai will also launch the new Sonata which replaces the current Sonata Transform.
Toyota plans to assemble it from CKD kits at the Bangalore plant, which may help Toyota to price it on the lower side. A more refined 2.5-litre 174bhp VVT-i petrol engine mated to new six-speed manual and automatic transmissions will be the other changes to the Camry.
The Camry was caught testing in Bangalore and the new features noticed were:
- Start stop button
- Steering mounted controls
- Infotainment system
- Projector headlamps
- LED tail lights
- Front and Reverse parking sensors
We hope Toyota also plugs in a diesel engine which has been the main reason for the success of the Skoda Superb and Passat.
There are two variants of the Camry, one for the US market and the other for the Asian. We in India will get the Asian version of the Camry.
