Toyota India has launched the diesel versions of the Etios and Liva in India. The two cars are very important for Toyota as they will help the Etios brand to garner larger volumes.
The engine used in both the cars is the same 1.4 litre diesel motor which also does the duty on the Toyota Corolla ALtis. However the Etios gets only the Fixed Geometry Turbo (FGT) which is tuned for mileage and both these vehicles deliver 23.59 kmpl (certified by ARAI).
This 1.4 liter FGT produces 68 PS of power at 3800 RPM and 170Nm of torque at 1800-2400 RPM. The Etios Sedan will be available in GD, VD, and VXD while the Liva hatchback is available only in the GD version.
