German automaker Volkswagen has launched the new Beetle in India at Rs. 28.05 Lakhs. The new beetle has been launched as a CBU import and is currently sold in select dealers in India.
Launched internationally in 2011, the new Beetle has been reworked on with a lowered stance with new body panels and sportier styling as opposed to cute looks of the previous generation which was then called as the woman’s car.
The New Beetle sports 16 inch alloy wheels, an integrated spoiler, squared bumpers and fatter roofline which all give the beetle a muscular stance.
Feature wise the Beetle comes in only one fully loaded variant. The car gets Bi–Xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights, chrome packages for the exterior and interior as standard, Panoramic tilt/slide Sunroof, Protective side moulding in colour with a chrome strip, Green heat insulating glass in the side and rear windows, front fog lamps with static cornering function and LED License plate lights.
On the Interior front the new Beetle gets Vienna leather seats, mood lighting on front speaker, Chrome trim for rotary light switch and A/C control system, Scuff plates, Carpet mats, front and rear, leather wrapped multi function steering wheel with Multi – function display, audio and telephony controls, leather wrapped hand brake lever handle and gearshift knob, door side trim panel partially in leather, illuminated vanity visors and 2 front reading lights.
Comfort and convenience features include dual zone climate control, an eight speaker audio system with USB, Aux – in and Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control along with automatic headlamps and rain sensing wipers, Instrument cluster with electronic speedometer, odometer and tachometer, auto dimming interior mirror, Rain sensor and Multi function display Plus.
As regard to safety the new Beetle gets dual front side and curtain airbags, ABS, Hill descent control and a brake pad wear indicator, Electronic stability control with driver steering recommendation, ASR, EDL and EDTC, front under body guard, 3 – point seat belts in front with belt pensioner, two three point rear seatbelts, front and rear Park distance control with acoustic warning and graphical display.
Volkswagen has launched the new Beetle in only one engine option, a 1.4 litre turbo – petrol engine putting out 149 bhp and 25 kgm of torque. The engine comes mated to a seven speed DSG gearbox with paddle shifters.
The new Beetle also gets a four link independent rear suspension system, Start/ stop system with regenerative braking as standard and disc brakes for all four wheels.
The new Beetle is available in four exterior shades Tornado Red, Blue Silk, Oryx White and Habanero Orange. The Beetle will be sold via select Volkswagen dealerships only.
Priced at Rs 28.73 Lakhs, the new Beetle doesn’t come cheap specially and is available in only one variant and engine choice, but what you get is a fully loaded package with all the bells and whistles all in one variant of the Beetle.
Sadly its not on sale in Goa yet and we could hopefully get it once the new dealership starts operation in Goa.
