Tata will finally launch the Safari Storme in the Indian market on the 17th of October. GoaOnWheels were the first to reveal the new Safari Storme nameplate and caught the SUV during an ad shoot in Pune. The launch will occur in a phased manner across the country staring with Maharashtra, the home state for Tata Motors.
The Storme will be positioned above the current Safari and will not be discontinued. The top variants VX & GX has been phased to make way for the Storme and the current Safari will be available only in the lower LX and EX. The The Safari Storme will be sold in three variants, LX, EX and VX and 4×4 variants will also be available from day one.
The Safari Storme is powered by refined 2.2L DiCOR engine tagged as ‘VERiCOR’ engine which will produce a decent 140 PS power; 320 Nm torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and gets a new dual mass flywheel adopted from the Aria that helps to cuts noise and vibration significantly. Electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESOF) enables shifting from 2WD to 4WD even on the move.
Tata has already started accepting bookings and will be priced in the range of Rs. 9.5 lakhs to Rs. 13 lakhs. The Safari will have to strom the market to make an impact and the XUV5OO will be its biggest competitor.
