The Tata Safari Storme has managed to taste good success and the company has already managed to sell 3000 units since its launch in India. The Safari Storme has a waiting period of 4-6 weeks and has already bagged another 2000 units which will be delivered in the following weeks.
Tata Motors has launched the Safari Storme in a phased manner in the Indian market and recently launched the SUV in the South.
The SUV market has seen a very good growth in 2012 and also saw the launches of new SUVs in the form of the Renault Duster and Mahindra Quanto. The Safari Stomre is pitted against the Mahindra XUV5OO and the Duster. The SUV could Tata Motors increase its sales in the market which has been constantly declining in the last few months.
The Storme is equipped with a 2.2L ‘VERiCOR’ diesel engine that produces 140 PS @ 4,000 RPM and 320 Nm @ 1,700-2,700 RPM. The 16-valve DOHC unit is mated to a 5-speed G-76 (Mark II) manual gearbox that helps the car reach 0-100 kmph in just 15.5 seconds. The Storme is available in four variants and following are their ex-showroom (New Delhi) prices:
- LX: Rs. 9.95 lakhs
- EX: Rs. 10.77 lakhs
- VX: Rs. 12.37 lakhs
- VX 4X4: Rs. 13.66 lakhs
