Launched in October, the Safari Storme was certainly proved to be the dark horse for Tata Motors which has seen sales slump in the last couple of months. The Mahindra XUV and Renault Duster are the other two SUV’s which are also sitting on big booking orders.
Seems like the late entrant Safari Storme has able to convince its loyal customers its not just a cosmetic makeover, but an all new product all together. The SUV was partially launched in the Indian market. Starting with a few select markets followed by launches in the Northern and Eastern markets and it is gradually launching the Storme in the Southern and Western markets.
A couple of days back we reported of the Storme having a waiting period of 4-6 weeks and had bookings of more than 2000 since then.
Sitting on the Aria platform, the Strome is huge improvement over its predecessor. The company is paying special attention and has made significant investments to develop this variant at its Pune facility. The company is working hard to reduce the waiting period of the SUV.
Tata Motors will launch a number of products in 2013 which mainly include upgrades and facelifts of existing models. On cards is the new Vista D90 which will be launched shortly.
The Tata officials have also hinted on the Safari getting new features in future models, but this could only be expected in 2014 and we can presume it to be showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo.
Tata is also retailing the old gen Safari alongside the Strome.
