Tata Motors seems to have finally woken up. The company is getting very aggressive and has plans to launch a number of new products in the Indian market in the next 2-3 years. Tata will launch a new much need small car based on the X0 Indica platform.
The car will be completely redesigned and will be positioned in the compact segment and will one of the very important launches for the Indian maker which will most likely hit the market by 2015. We could expect the production look alike concept to be unviled at the 2014 Auto Expo.
The car will built on refurbished platform codenamed ‘X0’ on which the old Indica was developed. It looks like a good step by the company as the platform has been tried and tested for many years with most of the glitches eliminated. It will also help the company to introduce a new product on the same quickly and with lower costs.
Tata will completely re-work on the exteriors and interiors and will be powered by a 1.2 litre turbo petrol & 1.05 litre, three cyclinder diesel engine.
Tata Motors will spend Rs.4000-5000 crores toward product development over the next three-five years. The company is seriously working on compact sedan and compact SUV which could hit the markets by 2014-15.
Tata Motors should also concentrate on after sales, service and more importantly on the reliability & quality of the products. So will the new product help the company to achieve their target to be the second largest car player in the Indian market?
