To meet the large waiting period and ease the pressure on the Pantnagar plant, India’s largest commercial vehicle make, Tata Motors has inaugurated its new plant in Dharwad, Karnataka.
Tata Motors has invested over Rs. 900 crores and the plant spans across an area of 405 acres. The plant has been constructed as per the norms specified by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC). The plant has been equipped with state-of-the-art equipment following lean manufacturing principles. It has built-in flexibilities to assemble large numbers and different variants in mixed mode production. The plant has been recommended for ISO 14001, Environment Management System Standard.
Tata Motors’ Dharwad plant for small commercial vehicles will produce the Tata ACE Zip and the Tata Magic IRIS.The two products have a good recall in crowed metros and are getting good response even in rural areas.
The two products are very useful for last mile delivery.
