Skoda has started production of its newly launched 2013 Octavia at Mlada Boleslav plant in Czech Republic.
The 2013 Skoda Octavia is based upon the much talked about and very versatile MQB platform and is aimed at being a bench mark in its segment. This car will be the third generation of the Octavia and considering that the second generation was a hit, Skoda has high hopes from this car.
The new Octavia’s design is based on the Vision D concept. The car is wider and longer than its predecessor and has a more promising front. The headlamps are larger and the nicely designed front bumper with integrated fog lamps combine well to make the car look elegant. Octavia is a cousin of VW Jetta and that is apparent in the side profile of the car. The rear though is typical Skoda and goes in line with the other cars from Skoda family.
The Octavia will be launched in late January 2013 in Europe. The daily capacity at the plant has been increased to 1,200 to cater for the expected increase in demand. The Older generation of the Octavia is called Laura in India and that name will remain even for the new generation which is expected to hit Indian shores somewhere around Diwali next year.
