Skoda has silently slipped an automatic option of the Laura on the petrol variant. The sedan gets an automatic 7-speed, DSG, with Tiptronic manual gear changing which is mated to a 1.8 Turbocharged direct injection, 16V DOHC petrol engine. The manual option gets a six speed gearbox.
The Laura is also available with Automatic 6-speed, DSG, with Tiptronic manual gear changing on the 2.0 TDI CR/103 kW diesel varaints.
Unlike the most automatics, the Laura DSG returns a mileage of 14.6kmpl, which is slightly higher than mileage fugure of 13.4 kmpl on the Laura manual.
Skoda is also planning to launch the new Octavia in the Indian market. The chances of the Laura to co-exist alongside the new Octavia are very slim, but Czech maker may keep both the models alive for a few months and later discontinue the Laura brand alltogether.
Most car makers have again shifted thier focus to petrol cars and are offering Automatic versions to lure customers. Renault recently laucnhed the Scala with X-Tronic CVT and Nissan will soon introduce the option on the Sunny.

The Laura is available with a choice of 2 diesel and 1 petrol engine. The Skoda Laura TSI AT is priced at Rs. 15.65 lakhs.
