Sharayu Toyota the official dealer for Toyota Kisloskar in Goa has launched the facelifted Platinum Etios sedan which sports new design changes and minor changes on the inside as well.
Design wise the new Platinum Etios receives a new sportier look and a new front end sporting a new black V – shaped front grille doubled up with thick chrome surround and new updated headlamps.
A sportier redesigned front bumper which has multiple design elements like the slim air dam, new fog lamps bezel with chrome additions, While at the a new redesigned rear bumper with a flatter design and tweaked taillamps with a chrome strip embedded with the Etios badging spruces up the rear design.
The interior has been further updated with new beige colour upholstery and beige fabric seats, black leather wrapped steering wheel with steering mounted audio controls and new beige fabric seats.
The centrally located instrument cluster gets a new Optitron Combimeter with illumination control function offers an upmarket feel and it also houses a digital tachometer. The new Etios Platinum now is also offered with electrical adjust and retractable function for the outside rear view mirrors and a new rear armrest for added comfort.
Safety wise, the Etios series are offered with ISOFIX safety mounting points as standard along with airbags on all variants, while ABS with EBD is now offered on all models and grades as standard fitment, which is a first for India.
Powering the Etios are the same 1.5 litre petrol producing 80 PS @ 5600rpm with 104nm of torque @ 3100 rpm and 1.4 litre diesel engine producing 68 PS @ 3800rpm and 170 nm of torque at 1800 – 2400 rpm both engines come mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox .while the diesel powered Etios receives a new updated lighter clutch for easy gear shifting.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Launch, senior officials of Sharayu Toyota Goa said ‘’ The New Etios has been designed and developed with Indian tastes and with customer feedback which have been major inputs to develop the new Platinum Etios. Toyota has given the liberty to Toyota India counterpart to design, develop and improve the Etios sedan in India rather than sending feedback to Japan thus saving time and resulting in faster improvement of the sedan. The Etios has been granted 4 star safety rating in India, while most manufacturers offer only 1 star rating thus offering better safety and crash protection in event of an accident.
The New Etios sedan is now better equipped to take on the competition with the facelift which will go a long way in improving the image on the car which is now equipped with better styling and younger design language with improved interiors and new feature list thus making it look and feel more premium than it was before and the facelift has also prepared the Japanese brand to face the sub four metre competition consisting of rivals the likes of the Maruti Dzire, Tata Zest, Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze, Volkswagen Ameo and Hyundai’s Xcent which are sure to face a lot of heat from this new sedan especially due to its longer three box layout.
