The XUV500 tasted instant success with tremendous demand from all across India which has resulted to long waiting queues. The cheetah inspired SUV does make heads turn around and has one of the best value to money equation.
According to our close sources, Mahindra plans to launch the XUV500 with an upgraded transmission. There have been many cases reported where the transmission is not upto expectations and is some cases there is also failure. The XUV is equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, developed in-house by Mahindra. We can expect fine tuning done by experts to improve the overall performance.
There are also news of the Mahindra XUV500 coming with automatic gearbox option. However it is not confirmed as to when the SUV will get it. We can expect the export countries to get it first after which the company may offer it for the Indian market.

Mahindra XUV 500 (pronounced as XUV five double O) is available in two-wheel drive option and four–wheel drive option. The XUV 500 is powered by a 2.2 litre mHawk transverse-engine which produces 140 PS and 330 NM of Torque.
