Renault India sets new sales record achieving all-time high sales with eight-fold growth Year on Year. The French car maker sold 8,232 units in March with record-breaking units of the Duster and decent numbers of the Fluence and Scala sedans.
Renault India sold 6,313 units of the Duster, Scala 1,026 units, Pulse 541 units, Fluence 337 units and Koleos 15 units.
March was a tremendously successful month for Renault India, despite a challenging market,” said Sumit Sawhney, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Renault India. “Not only did we achieve overall record-breaking sales, but we also surpassed our benchmarks for the Duster, Fluence and Scala – yet another indication of Renault’s increasing strength in the Indian automotive space as well as the continuing appeal and acceptability of our products among customers.”
Renault will launch more models in the Indian market to increase its market share. Renault is evaluating the option to launch the Lodgy MPV which is based on the Duster platform. With the tremendous success of the Ertiga which sold more 70,000 units since launch has woken up other players to take a closer look at the 7-10 lakh MPV segment.
Tata Motors, Chevrolet and Hyundai also plan to tap this segment and will launch models by 2014-15. Chevrolet will launch the Enjoy MPV to go on sale in May in a similar price bracket as the Ertiga.
