Well the wait is Over.. Renault has unveiled the small car Pulse which will be the volume seller for the French car maker. The car was revealed in Delhi at the hands of Formula 1 drivers Mark Webber and Karun Chandhok, on the eve of the inaugural Indian F1 GP.
The car will be launched at the 2012 Auto Expo in Delhi with a 1.2 litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine. Both the engines also duty on the Nissan Micra on which the Pulse is based on.
The Pulse will be priced above the Micra. Seems like Renault is following a similar strategy like VW, where we have the Polo and Fabia on same platforms sharing same engines and made on the same line.
This strategy gives the company larger economies of scale and help to price the products more competitively.
Well we hope Nissan does not launch stripped down Micra’s to distinguish it from the Pulse.
Renault should pump more luxurious interiors with a French styled dashboard and some higher quality plastics to make the car feel richer.
