Renault India which did not find success in the Indian when entered in 2006 is now all set to blaze.
The company has charted an all new strategy and plans to launch 5 new cars by end of 2012.
Some of the salient points which the senior management team from Renault shared
Renault to Five car launches by 2012-end. Two cars in 2011 and three cars in 2012, of which the Fluence has already been launched. The next to follow would be the Koleos SUV.
Renault Fluence to get more local content by 2012. The company will deliver 250 units of the Fluence by the end of this month.
The Duster SUV would be launched in the second half of 2012. The small SUV based on the Logan platform will be manufactured in India and will come with a 1.5 diesel engine.
The right-hand drive [RHD] version of the Duster will be fully produced at the Renault-Nissan Chennai plant in India and rolled out across the local market in the second half of 2012.
The company will unveil its small car at the 2012 Auto Expo. The car will compete with Maruti Suzuki Swift, VW Polo and will come with petrol and diesel engine options.
The next car will a sedan, detail the cars were not shared. But we speculate it to be based on the new Nissan Global sedan platform which is expected to be launched in India very soon.
Renault will manufacture all its cars in India. No CBUs as of now.
Renault will add seven to 10 dealers in India by mid-2011 and 40 by end of 2011. By 2012, it would be increased to 100 by December 2012.
India along with Brazil and Russia are key focus markets for Renault.
