Renault will launch its next big model in the Indian market in June. The Duster SUV will be the next model after the Pulse small which is going to makes its debut soon. Renault which made its re-entry in India with the Fluence and Koleos now want to take on the mini SUV segment which has shown some tremendous growth. The company has updated its website with new details.

The Duster is based on the Logan platform and will come with a two-wheel-drive version initially. The 4 wheel drive variant could be launched in the next six months. Renault may also launch the all-wheel-drive variant later if the demand does exist.
The Duster will be positioned below the Scorpio and will be available with 1.5 dCi engine, seen on various Renault models already. Renault may launch it in two tunes: 85bhp state for the mileage lovers and higher state of tune: 110 bhp which is also makes its duty on the Fluence diesel for those who want the extra performance. The Duster will also get the 1.6 litre petrol engine which is also available on the Nissan Sunny.
The Duster could provide some healthy competition to the Ford’ EcoSport SUV will could hit the market by end 2012-13. The Duster won’t qualify for under 4metres as the SUV is 4.31 metres long. Expect some aggressive pricing from Renault.
