Renault launched the Duster in 2012 which quickly became a great success with over 1.4 lakh units. Today the Duster is sold in 100 countries and manufactured in 5 countries. 4 years later the Duster receives its first facelift with cosmetic changes to the exterior, now gets more premium interiors and new ‘CMO10’ & ‘T4 E&E’ architecture, enables enhanced safety and superior ride and handling and a new Easy R – AMT gearbox.
The facelifted Duster sports 32 new exterior styling changes which make the SUV look sportier than before. The front end gets a new look with a new dual finish front grille which houses the Renault logo, hawk eye cluster headlamps, firefly fog lamps and a new bumper design completes the design upfront, Moving to the side profile there are new electrically adjustable and electrically foldable ORVMS with turn indicators, Kayak Roof Rails and 16 inch Gun Metal Finish Alloy wheels. At the rear there are new waterfall effect LED tail – lamps and new rear bumpers.
The Facelifted Duster’s interior are now plusher than before with dual tone Crimson black which are offered on the AWD variant while the other variants get Cedarwood black with premium embossed fabric trims and soft touch dual tone dashboard which lifts the ambience of the cabin.
The Centre console gets a new gloss black treatment which also houses the new 7 inch Screen with Media Navigation with hands free calling and new chunky knobs for the air conditioner.
When it comes to safety and Features the Duster facelift is packed to the gills with Automatic air conditioner, new auto up / down windows with anti pinch for added safety, new Rear view camera guidelines, and new centre fascia, ABS, EBD with brake assist, dual airbags, ESP and Hill start assist.
Power for the Duster comes from a 1.5 litre K9K common rail direct injection Diesel engine which is offered in 4×2 and 4×4 options. There are 2 power options 110 PS at 4000 rpm and 245 nm of torque mated to a 6 speed manual transmission and returns 19.72 kmpl. The lower tuned 85 Ps @ 3750 rpm returns 19.87 kmpl.
The new Easy R AMT variant is offered on 110 Ps diesel engine and comes mated to a new Easy R – AMT gearbox which offers high fuel efficiency of 19.06 kmpl. It also the first time a 6 speed auto gear box is offered in an SUV under Rs. 10 lakhs.
The Renault Duster will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta which is now the segment leader, Maruti Suzuki S-cross and top variants of the Vitara Brezza and Nissan Terrano.
