The facelifted i20 has been doing several rounds in Indian and has been caught a numerous times. It’s now official, the facelifted i20 will be launched at the Geneva Motor show and we can expect an India launch by April.
Images of the facelifted Hyundai i20 have been released onto the web ahead of the car’s official unveiling at next week’s 82nd Geneva International Auto Salon.
The i20 now bears the fluidic design theme and draws a lot of styling ques from the i30 and ix20. The car now boasts of the signature hexagonal grille, a redesigned front bumper with scooped up headlamps, new vents and fog lamp housings. A set of new design alloy wheels, re-designed rear bumper and tail lamps complete the exterior styling.
We were sceptical of the looks initially but now feel Hyundai has done justice to the facelifted i20 which has been one of our favourite hatch. The i20 will continue to get the same power plants but we only hope a few power upgrades especially to the 1.2 which seems underpowered when compared to the rest of the cars.
The interiors will also get some revisions with cosmetic changes. The hatchback segment has witnessed intense competition both in terms of competitors and pricing. Hyundai sales slightly declined in February. These conditions will certainly put some strain on Hyundai which may be forced to keep the price hike minimal.
Hyundai India may continue with same variants and may rejig the features to keep the car priced competitively.
