Nissan will launch the Evalia MPV on the 26th of September. The MPV segment has grown at a faster rate, thanks to the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga which has managed to get into the top ten in terms of sales.
The 2012 Auto expo saw many automakers showcase their MPV, either concepts or almost production ready. Nissan showcased the Evalia, Chevrolet displayed the Enjoy, Toyota launched the facelifted Innova and Hyundai unveiled the HDN-7 MPV concept.
The Nissan Evalia, an award-winning seven-seater family car, is the first Urban-Class Utility Vehicle. Innovative and exciting, Evalia boasts best in class fuel economy, a truly versatile interior with multi-use functionality and a host of sophisticated features such as Rear View Camera and Intelligent Key.
The Nissan Evalia MPV is a 7-seater model which has been modified for sale in India. The Evalia is being produced in collaboration with Ashok Leyland. The Evalia MPV will be powered by a 1.5 DCi motor which also powers the Micra, Sunny, Pulse and the upcoming Duster SUV. The motor will be tuned to produce 100hp and 240 Nm of Torque.
The Evalia MPV could be a hit especially in tourist areas and in the major metros. But these sales will be largely confined to fleet and taxi operators. The Evalia will have to battle the Innova head-on in the Indian market and pricing will be the key to success.
