Nissan India is planning to launch a lower cost version of the Micra. Nissan’s is eyeing for a larger pie of the Indian market and the move will help to allow access to a larger number of customers for the Micra.
Code named G02A internally the Micra low cost variant will be cheaper by at least Rs. 50,000. The low cost will however come at the sacrifice of features. The base XE comes with features like Engine Immobilizer, Driver Airbag, Power Steering, Steering Tilt Adjustment, Drive Computer, Body Coloured Bumpers and 14 Inch Steel Wheels a few important to be named.
The company may do away with Driver airbag and steering wheel and could also get a basic Drive Computer.
With Rs. 50,000 less the Micra will enter the Ritz & i10 segment. The low cost Micra will go on sale by April 2013. We could also expect a bit more changes. Nissan is also offering huge discounts by upto Rs. 60,000 on the petrol variants to boost sales. More variants will certainly help to increase the sales of the Micra hatch which is currently doing a decent 1500 units.
Nissan is also planning to launch the Datsun brand in the Indian market which will help the car maker to offer even more affordable cars.
