BMW unveiled the new X3. The second generation X3 has grown in all directions.
The new X3 which also carries the F25 designation has grown in size and apparently sits on the next-generation 3-Series platform. The new X3 is taller by 12mm, 83mm longer, 28mm wider while featuring a ground clearance that is 12mm more. Wheelbase has also increased in length, by 15mm to be exact making it 2,810mm.
X3 will be available in both petrol and diesel. X3 xDrive20d which uses a 4-cylinder 2.0 liter turbo diesel which makes 184hp at 4,000 RPM and 380Nm of torque achievable between 1,750 and 2,750 RPM. The fuel efficient diesel engine allows the X3 xDrive20d to offer a fuel economy figure of 5.6 liters per 100 kilometers.
The other model is the X3 xDrive35i featuring a straight-6 3.0 liter gasoline engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo. This makes 306hp at 5,800 RPM and 400Nm of torque from as low as 1,300 RPM. Hitting the century mark from a standstill would take 5.7 seconds while top speed is set at 245 km/h. It has a fuel economy figure of 8.8 liters per 100 kilometers.
Production of the new X3 will take place at BMW’s Spartanburg facility in North America alongside the X5 and X6. The 2011 BMW X3 would come to India by the first quarter of 2011.
The new X3 will make its debut at Paris motor show.
