As reported earlier Mitsubishi Motors will launch the Outlander Seven seater in the third week of March India. The Outlander has been selling in select countries with seven seat option. The third row however comes at a sacrifice of a huge boot space which the five seater variant enjoys. But thanks to the electronic folding seats which can be folded for that extra boot space whenever required.
The current outlander gets a 2.4 MIVEC petrol engine with a power output of 170 Ps and 226 Nm of Torque. The engine is mated to a INVECS-III CVT with 6 speed automatic and 6 speed manual paddle shift gear box. The Outlander is equipped with Shift on the Fly All wheel drive system.
Mitsubishi will most likely drop the price of the Outlander and we could expect a small list of equipment compared to current five seater.
Mitsubishi will also launch the Pajero Sport in the Indian market. We had earlier reported that the launch was expected in the second week of February. But the launch is postponed and could see an early launch in March.
Most companies are delaying their launch as they have been awaiting the new budget and excise structure. The government bodies are planning to impose a duty on diesel run passengers. Currently these cars enjoy the lower price subsidised diesel which is mainly meant for farmers and logistic operations.
The outlander solely competes with the Honda CR-V, both which are available with a petrol engine option. Plonk a diesel which again is available in the International market, and see sales zoom compared to the present low sales.
