Mitsubishi has been delaying the Pajero Sport in India for quite some time now.
It was first expected to be launched in 2010, then in 2011 and now it is expected to be launched in 2012.
Due to the rising Yen and also the slowdown in 2010, Mitsubishi couldn’t launch the much awaited SUV in India. The Pajero Sport is all set to make an early India debut and will be powered by a 2.5 Litre Turbocharged inter-cooled CRDI diesel unit, with about 136 BHP and 314 Nm of peak torque.
The power coupled with Mitsubishi’s shift-on-the-fly Super Select 4WD and a ground clearance of 215mm will help the SUV live up to its predecessors image.
The pricing is expected to be in the Rs. 19 – 22 Lakh price bracket is the Pajero Sport is locally assembled. Currently, the Toyota Fortuner is the king of the segment, but with the entry of Mitsubishi’s Pajero Sport it might have a hard time holding on to that crown.
