As reported earlier Mitsubishi Motors has launched the Outlander Seven seater in India. The Outlander has been selling in select countries with seven seat option already. The third row however comes at a sacrifice of a huge boot space which the five seater variant enjoys. But thanks to the electronic folding seats which can be folded for that extra boot space whenever required.
The third row will largely help to seat kids only as the space is minimal. But the best part is the price reduction of over a lakh. The Outlander now retails at Rs. 19.95 Lakhs.
The Outlander is powered by a 2.4 MIVEC petrol engine with a power output of 170 Ps and 226 Nm of Torque. The engine is mated to an INVECS-III CVT with 6 speed automatic with paddle shift gear box. The Outlander is equipped with Shift on the Fly All wheel drive system.
The third row is not as comfortable to those offered by competition. The outlander solely competes with the Honda CR-V, both which are available with a petrol engine option. Plonk a diesel which again is available in the International market, and see sales zoom compared to the present low sales.
Mitsubishi has unveiled the next Gen Outlander at the Geneva Motor show which gets well designed full fledged 7 seats. The Next Gen Outlander by come to India by 2014 and hopefully will be strapped with a powerful yet fuel efficient diesel engine.
Mitsubishi also plans to launch the Mirage and new Lancer in India in the future. There are also talks of the company coming to India Solo. We are eagerly waiting for this as it help the company increase its portfolio.
