Mitsubishi India is all set to launch a niche car in the premium segment. Sources say that the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X is the Mitsubishi India plans to launch. The Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X was shown in the 2008 Delhi Auto Expo.
The company is now waiting for approval from the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), an industrial research organisation formed in collaboration with the automotive industry, ministry of Industries and the government of India.
The managing director of Hindustan Motors declined to give out further details. “It could be launched this year as well if everything goes well”, he said adding that the technology would be sourced from Mitsubishi Motors of Japan.
Hindustan Motors has collaboration with the Japanese carmaker to manufacture the Mitsubishi Lancer, Pajero and Outlander here in India.
