Japanese commercial vehicle maker Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation said it is studying the Indian market to sell its heavy commercial vehicles in India.
The company, a part of the Daimler Trucks Division of Daimler AG, would go alone to sell its commercial vehicles, MFTBC Chairman Takao Suzuki said.
“Our Daimler Truck division is studying the Indian market and we may enter into this market in next 2-3 years,” Takao said on the sidelines of SIAM annual convention here.
Earlier, Daimler Truck Division had a joint venture with the India’s Hero Group to sell its heavy commercial vehicles and buses but now the company has decided to go alone.
However, Takao did not disclose further details in this regard. “Yet, it is not decided. It solely depends on Daimler. Let them study the Indian market and take the decision,” he added.
Japan-based MFTBC is one of Asia’s major commercial vehicle manufacturers. In 2008, the company sold a total of about 1.97 lakh vehicles that include light, medium and heavy-duty trucks and buses.
