Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors is planning a revival of its Indian operations in 2010-11 with a fresh business plan which includes a spate of new launches and replenishment of the existing models.
Within the next few months, the company will introduce the Lancer Evo (Evolution) X, and two sports utility vehicles (SUVs) – Pajero Sport and the new 2010 Outlander.
In 2011, it will follow up by replacing the existing Lancer, the oldest model in its range. While it says that launching a small car is still a few years away, it is working towards introducing the globally acclaimed electric small car MiEV in the domestic market by 2014-15.
The first of the new launches – the 2010 Outlander, will sport a 2.4-litre engine and will be available at Rs. 19.95 lakh by mid-April. This will be followed by the launch of high-performance cult sports sedan – Lancer Evo X GST.
However, till the new Lancer comes in 2011, it will be updating the engine of the current model and also of the Pajero, in order to meet the Bharat Stage IV emission norms which come into effect in April.
