After the Fluence and the Koleos, Renault is all set to launch the Duster in India. The Duster is a low cost SUV manufactured by Renault’s subsidiary Dacia, which is built on the same platform as the Logan; now known as the Mahindra Verito.
The Duster slated for India is expected to have 4X4 on the top-end trim, and will be powered by the 1.5-liter (K9K) diesel engine borrowed from the Nissan Micra. The engine will pack more power to give it a decent blend of economy and performance.
Renault has unveiled the Duster mini SUV at the Motor Show in Buenos Aires. The Romanian “Duster” crossover features a new grille, alloy wheels painted in dark gray, upgraded all-wheel drive, and finalized the interior with different instrument panel and centre console.
In the near future sale of Renault Duster also begin in Jordan, Syria, Libya, Egypt, Africa and Russia. Renault has officially confirmed the Duster for India, which will be launched in 2012.
The dimensions of the Duster are similar to that of the Hyundai Tucson though the pricing of the car is significantly lower. It is estimated to be priced below the 10 Lakh rupee mark, and is set to create a new segment in the Indian market. The Duster will have high local content which means prices will be very competitive.
Duster will be available in the 4X2 and 4X4 versions.
