MINI Iconic brand is all set to the India market on the 4thof January. The company has launched the official Indian website which has a countdown showing the number of days for the official launch in India.
MINI will launch three new models in India: The iconic three-door Cooper Hatch, the Cooper convertible and the Countryman SUV. BMW is currently setting up new dealerships and the first 2 will come up in Delhi and Mumbai. By end of 2012, Pune, Chandigarh, Chennai and Bangalore will also see dealerships.
The company hopes to lure enthusiasts with high-end performance versions and pricing will be somewhere around the X1 – in the Rs 25-35 lakh range. The MINI will make it in India as a CBU (completely-built units).
BMW will showcase the entire line up of the MINI range in India and will focus initially on brand-building. As part of brand building MINI has officially started the facebook page to connect with MINI drivers and fans from across India.
A 52-year-old brand, Mini was initially developed as a small city car by the British Motor Corporation. It was bought by BMW in 1994 along with the Rover Group. The current larger (in size) Mini cars bear almost no technical relation to the original car, though they feature a similar design language.
