The engine features latest generation common-rail diesel system, for instance, features optimised combustion chambers, fast and precise injectors, and injection pressures of up to 2,000 bar, while two-stage turbocharging and high ignition pressures help to maximise torque at all engine speeds. For enhanced refinement, the engine is also fitted with counter-rotating balancer shafts.
The smaller engine will also deliver higher mileage and is mated to 7G-Tronic Plus 7-speed automatic gear box.
The ML 250 is cheaper by Rs. 10.4 lakh compared to top ML 350 variant. The ML 250 will directly give the BMW X3 and Audi Q5 some serious competition. The new variant could also be a strategy to offer a product to substitute the GLK which is expected to be launched in 2014.
