Maruti will launch its all new Alto 800 in the Indian market on the 16th of October. The new Alto will replace the ageing M800 and the current Alto F8. The car will be powered by the same engine but has been extensively modified to improve performance and return a high mileage of 22.7 kmpl. The three cylinder engine is mated to a five speed manual transmission and develops 47.5 bhp @ 6000 rpm and 69 Nm of Torque @ 3500 rpm. To make downs shifts smoother, the company has a new DSA (down shift assist) mechanism incorporated into the gearbox along with the new DPT (Detent Pin Technology).
The car gets new interiors which we feel is going to be a important factor for the customers while choosing a car in entry hatch segment.
To beat the rising petrol prices, Maruti will launch the new Alto with a CNG option right from day one and will deliver mileage of 30.46km per kg of CNG.
The Hyundai Eon and Tata Nano will certainly have to worry if Maruti has very aggressive pricing plans for the car. The new Alto will be a crucial model for the company considering the rising competition. We expect new Alto to be priced in the range of Rs.2 to 2.5 lakhs.
