Maruti Suzuki has started production at the Manesar plant, but the company has some worry in terms of the big waiting list of the Swift Dzire and Swift.
The new Swift Dzire has clocked a whopping 65,000 bookings. The new Swift Dzire was launched in February and the car been a big seller for the company since its launch. The new Dzire is powered by K-12M VVT Petrol and D13A Intercooler turbocharger DDiS Diesel engine, mated to a 5-speed gear box. The petrol variant is also offered with a automatic option.
Maruti did not discontinue the old Dzire, re-lunched it as Dzire tour to cater mainly to the taxi market. Recently to ease the pressure on the new Dzire, Maruti have allowed sale of Tour to private buyers.
To follow the Dzire is the new Swift which always have been on a waiting list since car was first launched in 2005. With the diesel the waiting period only got worse. The Swift currently has 55,000 booking numbers and these could see an increase with the festive season coming.
At present, the diesel version of DZire has a waiting of five months, while that of Swift is two months. The petrol versions are available off-the-shelf as of now.
The company has also started making the Swift Dzire at the Gurgoan plant from August.
