Maruti Suzuki has been working intensively on a new model which is said to be the replacement for the Maruti 800. However, the idea is to design a self dependant full-model change capability, something not tried before, managing executive officer of Maruti Suzuki Mr. I.V Rao said.
Mr. Rao stated that the idea of designing this ‘new car’ is for it to co-exist with the highest selling car in the country, the ‘ALTO’. He disapproved the statement of the new car being a replacement for the Maruti 800 (which has already been banned form 13 metros as the car does not meet BS4 emission norms) and soon the same will be implemented throughout the country.
‘This will be a new car with an existing platform’ said Mr.Rao. However he also sighted that the engineering on this car is to be done in-house without the help of its Japanese partner ‘SUZUKI’. It will be certainly interesting to see the events that will unfold before us and we find out what the new generation of our very own M800 will look like! Well, there is only one way to find out and that is to wait and hope for the best!
The car will get the same F8D engine from the Alto which is engineered to meet the new emission norms and we expect the car to similar features of the Alto.
