Maruti Suzuki has got a just another feather in the cap. The Ertiga has been a runway success bagging 32,000 bookings since launch. The Ertiga is now sadly in the same crisis the Swift faced, Demand higher than supply which means waiting periods of atleast 2-3 months.
The moment India’s largest car maker announced the prices of the Ertiga, all had only one thing in mind, it’s gonna be a runaway success. The Ertiga has certainly been a sales marvel and will continue to be.
So what has made the Ertiga so successful?
- Competitively priced
- Higher Value for more
- Its a product of Maruti
- Good engine options
- Compact size and good positioning
So who has to worry?
Certainly this is not new segments? It’s just redefined by Maruti Suzuki and they have hit the bulls eye. Till now Toyota dominated this segment with the Qualis first and now the Innova. The Xylo did try its best to dent sales but could not manage the success of the Innova. Other car makers like Tata toyed with Grande and Venture but did not taste success at all.
Maruti certainly saw the right segment and with a good pricing the company has certainly made other car makers think local. Chevrolet will join this segment with the Enjoy MPV and will offer it with both petrol and diesel engine options.
So will the success of Ertiga force players like Toyota, Hyundai and Renault tap this segment with products which are already available in the International markets?
