Mahindra-Reva will launch the all new NXR hatchback in the Indian market in the month of September. The NXR will be the first model under the Mahindra-Reva umbrella and will be made at the company’s new manufacturing facility in Bangalore.
This manufacturing facility is the first plant in India to receive Platinum ratings. It is capable of producing around 30,000 new vehicles in 3 years span. The Reva NXR will be the first car to be produced here and the combined investment on the product and the plant is pegged at over 100 cores.
The Mahindra Reva NXR is a fully electric vehicle which is powered by an electric motor and runs on batteries which are chargeable. The addition of the Lithium ion batteries has given more flexibility to the Reva and now it will be able to travel around 160km on a single charge. The top speed of the car will be above 100km/hr.
Some of the unique features of the NXR are as follows:
- Quick2Charge: it gives a 25 kms range from a 15 minute charge.
- Car 2 Home: it enables a Reva owner to power his house from the car, something which not be out of place in certain parts of our country.
- Sun2Car: it is a personal charging unit which provides free and clear energy for the life of the vehicle
The two-door, four-seater car has undergone a style makeover that makes it more appealing to the masses. But the car, which now wears a Mahindra badge, will have to do a lot more, than just look good.
The Reva NXR can reach a maximum speed of 104 km/h. It is equipped with 15-inch alloy wheels, with disc front brakes and drum brakes at the rear. The NXR model will have a steel frame with ABS body which is made of dent-resistant material.
The lithium battery will be costlier, it will offer higher speed as well mileage up to 100 km for every charge. The lead acid battery which also powers the existing two-seater Reva, is priced lower but can travel up to only 80 km per charge.
