Mahindra has finally revealed the name of the much awaited SUV with project code U301, as Mahindra TUV300. Pronounced as TUV, 3 double ‘Oh’, the ‘T’ in TUV300 stands for ‘TOUGH’ to highlight the tough & stylish SUV design. The numeric ‘300’ represents the series name.
The company has been following a new nomenclature for the SUV followed by the XUV500.
The company also released a few concept images of the vehicle. The design is boxy and has been inspired from a battle tank. The new TUV300 is built on a all new platform and will be powered by a new mHawK 80 engine.
This will be the second SUV from Mahindra in the sub-compact space after Quanto and measures less than 4 metres.
The vehicle has been design with inputs from Italian design house Pininfarina and research and development of Mahindra TUV300 has been carried out at the world class Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai.
Mahindra also plans to launch automatic and 4×4 variants of the new SUV and will be made in Left hand drive configurations.
The TUV300 will not replace the Bolero and will help to further consolidate its position in the semi urban and rural market.
Mahindra will launch a new SUV in the Indian market before the Ganesh Chaturti festive season.
