Austrian premium two-wheeler maker KTM became the highest selling Premium Motorcycle Brand in the Indian market within one year of launch. Riding on the success of the Duke 200 naked motorcycle, KTM clocked sales of 8500 units in calendar year 2012.
The Austrian bike maker has made aggressive plans for India which includes a mix of new products and expansion of dealer network. With 70 operational dealerships across India, KTM has by far the largest dealer network among all premium motorcycle brands. The company is looking to further expand this and reach more cities and Tier 2 & Tier 3 markets.
The company has launched unique motorsports initiatives like Orange Days and Orange rides. These events bring the KTM riders together and further surge the family. KTM also plans to launch the Duke 390 and another new product by 2014.
Commenting on KTM’s achievements on its 1st launch anniversary Mr. Amit Nandi, Vice President (Probiking) Bajaj Auto, and responsible for KTM in India said “When someone wants a normal street bike he has a lot of options in the market but when he wants to buy a thorough-bred racing machine he knows that KTM is the only one. The number of motorcycle racing enthusiasts in India is much larger than what most people think.”
