Due to the increasing competition and escalating fuel prices, Honda has decided to launch a slightly refreshed City. The City facelift was expected in the festive season of Diwali, but due to the Thailand floods Honda have planned to launch the car in a couple of months.
There isn’t any official report from Honda as yet, but we expect the launch of a slightly updated city at the 2012 Auto Expo. The car was already launched in the Thai market. The changes are subtle and minor; the interiors remain the same, though the Thai brochure shows an introduction of a black interior scheme. The front grille now gets a chrome finish, which is inspired by the Accord.
The bumpers have been tweaked a little with the new air intake and a new fog lamp cluster at the front and reflectors at the back. At the back-end, tail lamps have been redesigned and now resemble the concept shown at the Australian Motor Show, 2008.
The Alloy wheels get a new look, and so do the wing mirrors. Honda has also introduced an ECO indicator, which can be used for driving economically and is lifted from its sibling the Brio. The Speedometer and other electronic equipment now gets a blue lighting instead of the sportier Orange. The facelift may be an indicator of a price heave, though nothing can be said until the car makes it to India.
